Missouri B.A.S.S. Federation State Champion

Table Rock Lake Kimberling City, MO

October 4 & 5, 2003

For the Missouri B.A.S.S. Federation State tournament, conditions were tough on Table Rock with the fish in a transition zone. The water temperature was dropping at a rate of one degree per day for the five days prior to the tournament. The two-day event sported 306 Federation Anglers.

Rick LaPoint captures Missouri B.A.S.S. State Federation Championship Title.

LaPoint, weighing in the only five-fish limit on day one, caught eight keepers over two days for a total weight of 20.90 lbs winning by over 6 pounds. He was able to catch his bass from Aunts Creek to the Dam on a drop-shot rig and spoon using his PinPoint 7520 to locate the bass suspended 40-45 feet deep in 40-120 feet of water. “My 7520 definitely puts more fish in the boat for me. I can actually watch them come up and hit my drop shot, and the sensitivity of my Custom Finesse Rod by Jim Grandt let me feel every bite” stated Rick.  While the fish were suspended Rick credits his ultra quiet PTS V MotorGuide Tracking Motor on his Skeeter ZX 2050 for keeping him on top of the fish at the right depth with out spooking them. Rick stated that most of his fish were caught late in the day near trees, and uses his PinPoint GPS for taking him back to the schools of bass he located in these trees.

Rick does instructional Deep Water Guide Trips on Table Rock Lake and teaches his clients how to use PinPoint Electronics to help catch more fish. Rick also does seminars titled “Deep Water Secrets” at various Sport Shows and other events.
