Ken,

I am Joe Gross and me and my wife Vicki were at Lake Huites in November when you were there.  It was a real pleasure meeting you.  I just wanted to let you know that we fished the points that you pointed out on the map the last day.  On my first three casts I had a 5lb 2 oz, 5 lb 8oz and a 7lb 8oz.  My wife caught a 5lb 8oz and we caught a lot of 4 to 5 pounders.  Later that day Rene showed us a flat somewhere and we sat anchored for 2 1/5 hours and I caught a bass on almost every cast with the smallest being 4 1/2 lbs.  I caught several over 6 but the average was about 5.  To bad it was the last day.

Please let me know if you are going to have a special trip next November.  My wife and I would really like to go back.

Regards,

Joe & Vicki Gross

Subject: Lake Huites trip Nov 2000

Hey Ken this is Joe Perrin from the November trip. (came down from Seattle with Keith, Jack, and Mike) I just jammed through your website and could have spent all day reading info on all types of fishing. Just wanted to let you know that your little article about your December trip was the perfect description of bass fishing Mexico! I've had trouble telling people about the trip because It was so unbelievably awesome I don't want to leave out any details. Now when someone asks about it I will send them to your site. I still can't get over that trip and can't wait until next year. I can't imagine a better trip that offers a great opportunity to catch so many quality fish and see a part of Mexico not many Americans will ever see. Well adios amigo and catch ya later!

It rained on us Friday really hard, as a matter of fact we went to the bank and built a fire to dry a little. It didn't seem to affect the fish though. Friday night it rained all night and the lake was up 8 to 9 feet by Saturday afternoon. I t was dirty up the rivers but like your report said, clear towards the dam. The fish didn't seem to mind other than the topwater bite slowed down. The lizards and spinnerbaits really started working. The fluke caught fish but it was just easier and less hassle to
throw the spinnerbait or lizard.  My brother-in-law started asking for a squirt of KnB on his lizard after I began out catching him with it. Roger

Here is the straight story.
Deep Diving Crankbaits " Bill Dance "   Bright Green and Tennessee Shad, Watermelon Worms and Lizards 6 to 9inch, Gary Yamamoto's Senkos and Stick baits in Shad Colors and Blues also look for topwater with Pop R's to work early morning. Water is stained in front of the camp but clear towards the damn the better fishing is around the color line. November 2000

 Hola, Amigos!

I know we are in the heat of summer, but I realized it is time to start thinking about fall fishing when I received a phone call from Rene Salazar this morning.  During the summer months on Lake Huites, everything is pretty calm with the hot summer days and afternoon rains.

This morning when Rene called, he had a lot of excitement in his voice, reporting "mucho pescado" every time I quizzed him about the lake.  It seems as though that this last weekend Rene had taken a small group of local Mexican merchants to Lake Huites Lodge for a two-day fishing excursion and he reports that the lake level is rising tremendously and is as high as he has ever seen it during this time of the year.  He also asked me if I remembered how great the fishing was the summer before the opening of the lake in October of 1997.  He describes the fishing right now as being that good or better, with 50 to 100 bass in the 3 to 4 pound size being caught before lunch.  Apparently all those one pound fish that were such a nuisance to catch a year and a half ago have grown up.  He claims that his small
group this past week caught countless 8 to 11 pound bass using Rene's favorite lure, the Bill Dance Fat Free Shad, and also big spinner baits thrown up against shade-covered ledges.

I guess we should have known that these kind of reports were going to come back from the lake after Flip Pallot had such a great experience at the lake.  Flip came down and filmed the ESPN fishing show, "Walker's Cay Chronicles" using only fly fishing gear and he reported that in his opinion, it was the best fly fishing for bass show ever with numerous huge 6 pound bass caught.  This will be a show not to miss - lots of stop action with fish breaking the surface with gills flaring.  It will air in the spring of
2001.
Combining my conversations with both Rene and Flip, the water level being so high and from past experience, I feel that the fall fishing season will be a blockbuster.  October 25 and November 1 are prime moon phase times for the early fall season.  The entire month of December last year offered excellent fishing with huge 10-plus pounders being landed.  Since I know the season is going to be a great one, I don't want anyone to miss out!!   I hope to see you at the lodge fishing, eating, drinking and having a great time!

Ken, I did not feel a bum's rush.  I had already had my valium.  I have run all the traps and have booked 2 seats in a boat for the trip.  Deposit mailed, airlines booked.  Again, thanks for working up the discount for us.  I can use the $400 savings to buy tackle and more toys.  Is Stinky going, or is he minding the store?  See you on 11-1.....Bill

Hi this is Ken Kross from Kick'n BassŪ Fish attractants.  I wanted to share two quick things with you.  First is we have now come out with our Anise/Shad scent and your local store probably does not have it so you will either have to ask for it or order from out web site. The second reason for this mail is to make you aware of a special event we produce each year.

We call it the "Rally in Huites Mexico".  If you like to bass fish this is a special deal you will not want to pass up.  Lake Huites is the only catch and release lake in all of Mexico.  It was stocked with Florida strain bass and they are growing fat and meaner every year.  Terry Hollan of Reel Adventures Outfitters has worked up a special deal for friends of Kick'n BassŪ.  We have a 325 page web site and we have been fortunate enough to have great company growth every year.  We have booked the entire lodge at Lake Huites Mexico for Nov 1 st to Nov 5 th. We do this every year and Terry gives a supper discount rate off of the regular season rates.  The regular rate is $1195 per person for 5 days which includes 3 entire days of fishing from sunrise to sunset in guided boats.  This is not a second rate trip, this is the full deluxe stay with all you can eat, all you can drink, air conditioned rooms, guided boats with trolling motors and 50 hp outboards and anything else you can think of included.  We get this full deluxe trip for a discounted rate of $995.  That saves you $200 per person that you can add for your air fare to Los Mochas Mexico.  This is prime time fishing on a huge wilderness lake in the middle of 5,500 ft Sierra Madres mountain range.  Cool nights and hot sunny days with catches of 100-200 bass per boat not uncommon.  Last year my wife and I did close to 300 bass in one day, one very long day.    Terry's crew will pick us up at the airport and drive us the three hours to the air conditioned, spotlessly clean lodge. (Other outfitters charge $250 per person for this ride).  We will have a quick supper and then off to our air conditioned rooms for a quick nights rest.  A little before sunrise there will be a knock on the door and everyone gets up and comes in for a wonderful breakfast.  You are then taken down to the waters edge and leave with your guide just as the sun is starting to come up.  The guides know what they are doing and they take you right to the fish.  You have a full ice chest with your choice of beverages to last you until lunch.  You come in for a full lunch and to compare notes with the other guests.  Then it is off again to do battle with bass ranging from 2#'s to 14#'s.  This lake has a growth rate of over 2 pounds per fish so all those 4-6 pound fish we caught last year should be 6-8 pounds this year.  And we caught a lot of them. 100 per day. This fishing goes on for three non-stop days, food, drinks etc.  Then you fly back home on Nov 5 th. We do ask for a $95 tip package to be distributed amongst the hard working staff from the bus driver to the cook and the guides.  This trip has to be experience to believe it.  I have gone the last four years and I plan on going every year from now on if possible.  Their are only 22 spaces in this $995 deal and about half have already been booked.  We have a network of friends from all the web sites that just jump on this opportunity.  I hope you are one of those that does too.Contact Terry Hollan at 1-888-744-8867 or contact me at 1-800-605-BASS.  You can come to our web sites and read articles on Lake Huites, see pictures on our Brag'n Board and read testimonies on our Testimony board.  Come visit www.kicknbass.com and be one of those lucky 22 who will be fishing spring spawn Mexican bass in the dark of the moon phase.  I don't think it gets any better. Give me or Terry a call.  Thank you.  Cosmic>
